The NEW White House Rural Council: A “Take-Down”

June 23, 2011

Point-by-Point “Take-Down” of  Executive Order establishing the White House Rural Council:

Below is the White House link to the Press Release “explaining” Executive Order #13575.  You may want to view it first.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2011/06/09/obama-administration-establishes-white-house-rural-council-strengthen-ru

1). JOBS — You gotta be kiddin’ me! Yea, right…this administration has a stellar track record with job creation…NOT!  By the way…Government does NOT create jobs.

2). Agriculture Market… Expansion: Get Gov’t out of the market!!! The MARKET functions best when central-planners leave it alone, thus the term FREE-MARKET…you know, that thing that once made America the envy of the world!

3). Innovation — Thru subsidies???? Huh? What??? You gotta be kiddin’ me! Leave us alone, let the market function, get out of the way, repeal most regulations and we’ll innovate like you’ve never seen (which, by the way, these folks have no idea what REAL innovation is).

4.) Networks: More REGIONALISM here. BTW, REGIONALISM only serves to break-down representative government. Via REGIONAL councils, rather than elected representatives who are able to be held accountable, more rules and regulations will be foisted upon We, the people and we are left without avenues of recourse and redress of grievances.

5). Health Care — Nothing needs to be said about this, we know whats implied here: Centrally-Planned and managed Health Care that will, once again, drive costs up even more that will be chased by more of OUR hard-earned $$$.

6). Education — Increase Post-Secondary enrollment rates??? Huh? What? Are they going to MANDATE enrollment? Are they going to now pay for college with MORE tax $$$? Increased Graduation rates for rural students in college? Huh? What? Is gov’t going to supply cheat-sheets or tax-payer funded tutors?  Lower standards (again) maybe?

7). Broadband — this is already well in the works and once again Gov’t is interfering with the market by taking more of OUR $$$ (taxes and “fees”).

8). Infrastructure — coordinate investment? Huh??? What??? Are we sooooo “stoopid” that we can’t “COORDINATE”?

9). Ecosystem Markets — Here’s the REAL reason for this council. “Expanding opportunities for conservation”, Uh huh…yea…right. Let me translate this: Increased PRIVATE land management by the FEDs. That means that YOUR (OUR) private land can be used as we see fit IF…IF…IF…we do so the way “they” say we are allowed to do so.

10).  The history of government desires, and resulting policies, to “do good”  reminds me of what Ronald Reagan told us years ago:  “The nine most terrifying words in the English language — I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”   WE REALLY DO NOT NEED OR WANT GOVERNMENT TO BE MORE INVOLVED, YOU’VE DONE ENOUGH ALREADY…Thank you, and goodbye, now!

Statement on Boren Announcement to Not Seek Re-election

June 8, 2011

— 08 June, 2011 —

Yesterday afternoon Rep. Dan Boren announced he would not seek re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives for Oklahoma’s 2nd. Congressional District.  Rep. Boren had been elected to four consecutive terms to serve the interests of the good, hard-working citizens of Eastern Oklahoma and, I believe, in his mind he truly believed he worked toward this end and each election victory he secured served to reinforce that belief.  Rep. Boren served the citizens of Eastern Oklahoma, but, I do not believe he served them well.

I actually like Dan Boren…you can’t help but like him.  I disliked Rep. Dan Boren as a representative of We, the people in Oklahoma’s 2nd. Congressional district as his actions (votes), more often than not, did not represent the values and principles of OUR nations founding which mirror the values and principles of the citizens of Eastern Oklahoma.  With that being said, and from Rep. Boren’s perspective, he did SERVE in a very trying position during very contentious times…for that I offer my appreciation and wish Dan Boren and his family nothing but the best in the days ahead.

In the hours leading up to Rep. Boren’s official announcement, and persisting up to the writing of this statement, I have received over a hundred communications inquiring about the road ahead.  I truly believe OKD2 will become a Republican pick-up come Nov. 2012.  Several potential Republican candidates have already begun to appear in the public domain.  Former State Representative Tad Jones, Freshman State Senator Josh Brecheen, and current State House Representative George Faught (who has formed an Exploratory Committee) are among them.

This upcoming election season will bring a national political spotlight to OKD2, and deservedly so, the likes of which we have never seen.  After a total absence of National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) involvement in OKD2 during the past decade-plus, the NRCC began, two months ago, with robocalls targeting Boren’s district that signaled their intent to carry through with a promise which failed to come to fruition this last election cycle.  With Boren removed from consideration, Oklahoma’s slate of elected Republicans will now be free to support a Republican for this open seat.

Over the past several months myself  and members of the campaign have been asked as to my aspirations regarding this congressional seat.  With the recent announcement, those questions have become a bit more persistent.  My answer now is the same as it was six months ago:  I have no plans to seek the Republican party nomination for U.S. Congress to represent Oklahoma’s 2nd. Congressional District.  We believe that efforts to restore constitutional government, openness, accountability, government restraint, fiscal responsibility, systemic prosperity rather than systemic decline, expansion of Freedom, and individual Liberty can best be focused by utilizing many of the other very important avenues.

I look forward to the upcoming campaign season which will most assuredly culminate in the election of a true constitutional conservative to represent the wonderful folks of Oklahoma District 2…a representative OF the people which We, the people of Eastern Oklahoma require, deserve, and demand.

May God continue to Bless each and every one us

Thank you,

Howard Houchen

Axxiom for Liberty Radio Show_11-12-10

November 12, 2010

Tonight on Axxiom for Liberty Radio Show on the Rule of Law Radio Network, Kaye and I discuss the hot-topics of the day…including the “Gold Star” states that are meeting the benchmarks necessary for the formation and institutionalization of a National (international) ID system for WE Americans. Friday 6:00 to 8:00 pm CST

Later in the program we welcome David Hall.  David Hall is a Board Member of Associated Conservatives of America.  He was born in Hannibal, Missouri in 1951. David is the belladier of the life-sized Liberty Bell touring Texas tolling magnificently for freedom. He is a gifted leader in the prolife movement and has a unique ability to stand for righteousness wherever he goes. He was on the front lines in the attempt to save Nancy Cruzan when she was starved to death and to get Deborah McClelland released when she was arrested for shutting down a killing center. ACA is blessed to have David as a director.

The nation’s only traveling, working Liberty Bell carries on the tradition of the original sacred icon of 1753. As long as there is Liberty, there will need to be a Bell to Proclaim it and soldiers to defend it. We serve in hundreds of Honor Guard ceremonies each year and participate in many events dedicated to helping, supporting, and honoring our heroes.

Its primary purpose is to honor those who have paid the ultimate price for our Liberty, and to support those who serve in our military to protect Liberty.

Former U.S. Congressional Candidate Howard Houchen Set To Host Political Talk Show

(Paris, Texas) 20 August 2010 – As the lights started go out on Howard Houchen’s bid for U.S. Congress the lights were coming up on the set of Mr. Houchen’s new conservative political television show, The Road To Liberty. Venture Studios producer James Wyatt approached Mr. Houchen late in his campaign for Oklahoma’s 2nd District Congressional seat about the idea of hosting a conservative political talk show. Wyatt said, “I saw Howard had a unique quality that resonated with audiences on the campaign trail. His style and personality was something that we at Venture felt would translate very well to television.”

The thirty minute program, The Road To Liberty, is currently slated for thirteen episodes which has already begun filming at the Venture Studio’s facility. Guests from across the country will be featured each week discussing the topics of primary interest to conservative Americans. The show will be set apart from other programs of this type by Mr. Houchen’s demonstrated ability to relate the topics to everyday life and how government overstepping the bounds of our Founders’ intent is quickly taking this country off the intended path desired by the majority of Americans.

Mr. Houchen stated, “I’m really excited about the opportunity to continue reaching out to hard-working American citizens about the principles of constitutional conservatism, the proper role of government, and the absolute necessity of ensuring We, the people, check and roll back the powers of the political-class over the working-class”.  Houchen went on to say; “We are all Americans, it is our duty to protect and defend the rule book by which we are to govern ourselves…the U.S. Constitution.  To do anything less will lead to the demise of the greatest nation God ever blessed.”

Plans for the program include an initial launch in North Texas in several markets served by various cable providers. Negotiations will be ongoing during production for broadcast rights in Texas and Oklahoma markets and with satellite program providers for distribution to over 76,000,000 homes across the U.S. Viewers will also be able to watch and interact with the program at the website www.newroadtoliberty.com.

Rep. Dan Boren (D) OK-D2 will have NO Public TownHalls During the 6 Week Recess

August 10, 2010

It appears as if Mr. Blued-Hog himself (Rep. Dan Boren) will, once again, be holding NO Public invited Town Hall events in his district during this 6-week Congressional recess. No, Mr. “I Listen to the People” will instead be holding “Civic Meetings”. This information comes from his Washington office. The Boren Campaign office in Muskogee (excuse, me…his Congressional District office in Muskogee) said they are unaware of his schedule.

This “Civic Meetings” terminology is not new for Mr. Boren. In order to avoid actually facing people who may disagree with him or who actually have questions about many of his very-liberal votes in support of the Pelosi agenda, Mr. Boren travels the district (infrequently) to attend “invitation only” events. The Boren camp will call a town’s Chamber of Commerce, usually with less than 48 hour notice, and ask the Chamber to invite members as well as local civic clubs (Rotary, Lions, etc.) to a location where Mr. Boren will show up. These “civic meetings” will last from 45 minutes to an hour with no public notification, thus affording the general citizenry no opportunity to address their supposed Representative in Washington.

This Political-Class behavior has been evident for quite some time. Mr. Boren has held only three public Town Halls over the past year and all three of those were held during a single 8 hour period on a single day back in August 2009. Since that time Mr. Boren has done all he can to avoid scrutiny in public.

Once again the Political-Class call the shots and we, the working class, just let it slide right on by. After all, we are just the working-class…we are not worthy of our voices being heard in public.  Are we not ELITE enough to converse directly with the Political-Class?

Come on Mr. Boren, this behavior cannot be tolerated; You have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to convince the hard-working citizens of Eastern Oklahoma that you “Listen to the People” yet you offer no opportunity for this interaction to occur. Instead of “securing funds” (spending more of our money), please listen to We, the people.

CPAC Update for 20 Feb. 2010

February 21, 2010

Whew! It’s over. It seems as if the past five days were 10 days long. The Houchen for Congress team that traveled to DC to attend the Conservative Political Action Conference, meet with individuals and groups to seek help with the campaign, and to solidify contacts previously made, has been successful and is more than ready to return home to beautiful Eastern Oklahoma to meet and talk with the good citizens once again.

The last day of events included speeches from “the heavy-weights” (as some media outlets reported) and in most instances they were correct. Newt Gingrich entered the hall to the old and tested rock tune by Survivor…”Eye of the Tiger”. Personally, I didn’t care for the “rock-star” entrance but it was catchy and most of the folks felt fine with it. His speech wasn’t as “Rockin” as his entrance, though it was fairly good.

Ann Coulter’s cuts and jabs at the entire Progressive machine was…how do I put this…not really able to receive a Rated G status but I do like her irreverence of political correctness…she pretty much just tells it the way she views it.

LtCol. Allen West offered a very nice patriotic and moving speech while Bob McEwen probably made the most sense of the day with his very concise and common-sense filled descriptions of what it truly means to practice the principles of economic freedom.

During this last day we still met with groups like RightMarch PAC and Republican Liberty Caucus, who have already endorsed the Houchen for Congress campaign, and with new endorsers and supporters we will begin announcing shortly.

Then came Glenn Beck and his chalkboard. The only criticism I will offer of his speech was his stated belief that he had not heard the Republican Party “apologize” for its Progressive tendencies of the past. Michael Steele may not have but I have certainly heard our own State Chair, Mr. Gary Jones, say publicly that the trouncing received in ’08 was due to Republicans losing their way and not steadfastly holding to those Conservative principles we are supposed to uphold. Mr. Beck…once again Oklahoma is leading the way and you either ignore it or just don’t know about. Look into us a bit more Mr. Beck, maybe you’ll see why we are the reddest of the red states and why we need a little more Oklahoma in Washington and a whole lot less Washington in Oklahoma and around the country. Other than that, I thought Glenn’s speech was entertaining and slightly enlightening.

At the conclusion of the last day of events I was able to meet with American Conservative Union Chairman David Keene and discuss the journey we have embarked on in Eastern Oklahoma to unseat Mr. Blue-Dog himself…Dan Boren. Mr. Keene was very attentive, kind, and very interested.

We also met and spoke with Mrs. Herring of “Charlie Wilson’s War” fame. She was the philanthropist who supplied many of the “resources” necessary to help the Afghans defeat the Soviets in the 1980’s.

This morning, I once again met with an old friend from our days, a couple of decades ago, at Sears Automotive…ChucK Southard, now President of Evertson International, INC. He looks and acts just like he did way back when and I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to catch up with him and his all-grown-up daughter once again.

Real quick summation here: I did not hear one single new major theme, point, proposal, or policy statement that I haven’t already been talking and/or writing about across Eastern Oklahoma over the past 10 months. Rule of Law, Constitutional Conservatism, limited government via limited spending, economic freedom, individual Liberty, personal responsibility, even the Oklahoma born phrase, “Kneecap and Tax” (originally coined by 2004 Rep. Candidate Wayland Smalley and adopted by yours truly the next day) was proudly proclaimed on the stage and to millions of TV viewers. Capitol gains and personal tax reductions, energy dependence via domestic production and nuclear energy, strong national defense, and abolition of Departments of Energy, Education, and Agriculture. Even the notion of “governance is busted” (remember the article and speeches some 9 months ago on “American governance is busted…and it needs new batteries”) was tossed about during this past week, not only at CPAC but on many of the print news magazines, newspapers, radio, and TV news shows.
More to come on this last topic in a bit…stay tuned to Houchen for Congress!
